OPEN VILLAS 2026: BELLANO BETWEEN ART AND NATURE WITH BAC BELLANO ART AND CULTURE
The autumn edition of the event offers a journey through landscape, art and historical heritage, exploring the plant world and the fruits of the earth.
Bellano, 11 September 2026 – A journey through nature and its myriad representations in art, taking in landscapes, plant life, grotesques and imagery linked to the fruits of the earth. This is the concept behind ‘Bellano Art and Nature’, the itinerary promoted by BAC Bellano Arte Cultura to mark the autumn edition of Ville Aperte 2026, scheduled to take place in Bellano over the weekend of 26 and 27 September.
A route designed to guide visitors on a journey of discovery through some of the most significant sites of Bellano’s cultural and natural heritage, linking art, history, nature and landscape.
The itinerary takes in five sites forming part of the BAC Bellano Art and Culture project: Orrido di Bellano, an extraordinary example of the relationship between water, rock and nature; San Nicolao Contemporary Art, a space dedicated to contemporary art in the historic heart of the town; Giancarlo Vitali Museum, which preserves the artist’s work and legacy; the Church of Santa Marta and the Church of Saints Nazaro and Celso, places where the historical and artistic heritage interacts with representations of nature and the plant world.
‘Bellano Art and Nature’ itinerary becomes a cross-cutting lens through which to discover a heritage that often reveals the presence of nature in the most diverse ways: in landscapes, in works of art, in botanical depictions and representations of the fruits of the earth, and in the fantastical forms of grotesques.
Visitors are invited to view these places with fresh eyes, recognising how nature serves as a source of inspiration, a symbol and an artistic language. In Bellano, this dialogue takes on particular significance thanks to the extraordinary coexistence of natural landscape, architecture and art.
To experience the itinerary through a guided narrative, two guided tours are scheduled:
- Saturday 26 September, 3.30 pm
- Sunday 27 September, 11.00 am
The tours will take you through the various locations along the itinerary, accompanied by a guide to discover the works of art, architecture and natural beauty that characterise Bellano’s heritage.

Andrea Vitali to appear on “Il bello dell’Orrido” (The beauty of the Orrido)
The Open Houses weekend will also feature an event as part of the literary series “Il bello dell’Orrido”.
On Saturday 26 September at 6 pm, Cinema of Bellano – with free admission – will host the event “Le migliori poesie della nostra vita” (The Best Poems of Our Lives) featuring Andrea Vitali, a much-loved writer with deep ties to his hometown of Bellano, who returns to meet the public as part of the festival in conversation with curator Armando Besio.
This event rounds off the weekend’s programme, combining the exploration of the area’s artistic and natural heritage with the dimensions of literature and local storytelling.
