“Sfida tra i ghiacci. Come cambia l’Artico” (Challenge among the ice. How the Arctic is changing)
Saturday, March 28, with Valentina Tamborra: photographer and journalist, she has been creating reportage projects for years that combine images and storytelling, giving voice to marginalized communities and extreme territories. During the meeting “Sfida tra i ghiacci. Come cambia l’Artico” (Challenge among the ice. How the Arctic is changing), she will recount her experience as a traveler in those lands, creating a bridge between photographic storytelling, memories of places, and reflection on environmental urgency, also in connection with the current exhibition. The starting point is the photographic book “I Nascosti” (minimum fax, 2024), created over four years of travel beyond the Arctic Circle, in which she recounts the Sami people, their culture, traditions, and resistance to a process of forced integration, now aggravated by the effects of climate change. Her work is a profound and respectful investigation, interweaving faces, landscapes, and testimonies to convey the complexity of a life on the margins. The meeting in Bellano is linked to the exhibition “Elegia per un ghiacciaio” (Elegy for a Glacier) by Marco Cordero, curated by Chiara Gatti, currently on display at the San Nicolato space and the Vitali Museum as part of the BAC project.
