REPUBLIC DAY CONCERT
Tuesday, June 2nd at 8:30 PM
Palasole
This concert is conceived as a tribute to Italian Republic Day, featuring some of the most celebrated pages of the Italian opera repertoire.
The program offers a musical journey through 19th and early 20th-century Italian melodrama, with a particular focus on the music of Giuseppe Verdi—a composer who symbolizes the Risorgimento and a figure deeply tied to Italian cultural identity. His works, often perceived by the public as expressions of the ideals of freedom, unity, and national belonging, represent the core of this celebratory concert.
Alongside Verdi, the program also features the music of Giacomo Puccini and Pietro Mascagni, composers who helped make Italian opera one of the most recognized and beloved artistic heritages in the world.
Each piece will be introduced by Maestro Roberto Gianola, who will guide the audience through a musical and historical narrative, connecting the performed works to the values of the Republic, Italian culture, and the role that melodrama played in building the national identity.
The concert will alternate between solemn moments, highly emotional choral pieces, and famous tenor arias, building up to a musical crescendo that will culminate with the Inno delle Nazioni (Hymn of the Nations)—a symbolic celebration of people and brotherhood among nations.
