Saturday, May 31, the appointment is with Massimo Castoldi: a philologist and literary critic, scholar of Pascoli and Manzoni, he has dedicated his studies to the deepening of Italian culture and historical memory. He is professor of Italian philology at the University of Pavia and collaborates with cultural and academic institutions. An editor of numerous volumes, in addition to publications in the literary and linguistic fields he has worked on the history of the Resistance, Italian culture during Fascism, censorship and issues of memory. The origins and authentic meaning of the Italian National Anthem are recounted in L’Italia s’è desta. Mameli’s anthem, a song of peace (Donzelli), in which he analyzes the historical context in which it was born and the message of peace and brotherhood it carries. An opportunity to rediscover an often misunderstood identity symbol, while also highlighting the tragic story of the boy Mameli, the protagonist of this historical moment.
