BELLANO BETWEEN ART, HISTORY AND FAITH. THE GUARDIANS OF HERITAGE
Events scheduled for September 2026
Bellano is once again extending an invitation in September 2026 to experience and discover its cultural heritage through “Bellano between Art, History and Faith – The Guardians of Heritage”, a project now in its seventh edition, organised with the support of the ‘Environment and Culture Fund’. Now in its seventh edition, the project continues to promote the area’s historical, artistic and religious heritage thanks to the commitment of the Guardians of Heritage and the collaboration between institutions and cultural organisations. A programme of open days, tours and experiences takes residents and visitors on a journey that weaves together art, spirituality, history and landscape, offering authentic opportunities to discover the identity of Bellano and the Muggiasca area.
In September too, the main cultural and religious sites in the area will remain open, alongside a programme of guided tours that takes the public on a journey of discovery through Bellano’s artistic heritage and the exhibition “DEVOTA. Art and the Sacred, Territory and Community”, reaffirming the project’s value as a forum for bringing together community, history and heritage.

GUIDED TOURS AND ITINERARIES
Saturday 5 September, 10.30 am
The guided tours dedicated to the exhibition “DEVOTA. Art and the Sacred, Territory and Community” continue, offering a journey that takes participants through some of Bellano’s most significant sites, creating a dialogue between contemporary art, religious heritage and the identity of the local area. The tour provides an immersive experience that weaves together artworks, architecture and collective memory, guiding the public on a discovery of the exhibition project.
Sunday 20 September, 10.15 am
The guided tour “Light, Stone and Memory. The Church of San Grato” is scheduled, an in-depth exploration dedicated to one of the most representative religious buildings in the Muggiasca area. The tour will provide an insight into the history, artistic features and cultural significance of the Church of San Grato, placing it within the broader narrative of the local cultural heritage.
Saturday 26 September, 3.30 pm
The programme concludes with the guided tour ‘BAC Bellano Art and Nature’: a journey exploring plant life and the fruits of the earth in art, to discover where nature reveals itself through landscapes, grotesques and natural imagery. The tour takes visitors on a journey of discovery to the following sites: the Bellano Gorge, San Nicolao Contemporary Art Centre, the Giancarlo Vitali Museum, the Church of Santa Marta, and the Church of Saints Nazaro and Celso.
The project “Bellano between Art, History and Faith – The Guardians of Heritage” thus continues to serve as a model of participatory heritage promotion, in which the opening up of cultural sites and guided experiences transform heritage into a living, accessible and shared asset. Through the involvement of the community and visitors, Bellano reaffirms its vocation as a place where art, history and faith engage with the present, offering opportunities for an authentic discovery of the local area.
